How often do petrol prices change in Pakistan?

Only when OGRA publishes a new price notification. There is no fixed daily cycle — a price is held across weekends and public holidays, so a single notification routinely covers several days. That is why this page shows an 'effective through' date rather than claiming a daily update.

Is petrol the same price everywhere in Pakistan?

Yes. Motor Gasoline (MS 92 RON) and High-Speed Diesel are set at a single countrywide ceiling price. Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Gilgit all pay the same published rate. Sites showing different petrol prices per city are not reflecting any official source.

Why is there no separate diesel price for my city?

Because no Pakistani source publishes one. PSO's POL table, which carries High-Speed Diesel, is a single countrywide set — its city links change only the summary heading, not the table. Only Hi-Octane (HOBC) is genuinely quoted city by city.

What does 'effective through' mean, and why does it matter?

It is the last date the published notification is stated to cover. Because OGRA holds prices over weekends and holidays, the newest notification on record is often several days old and still in force. Comparing today against that date — rather than against the publication date — is the correct way to tell whether a price is current.

Where does this data come from?

National prices come from OGRA's price publications; Hi-Octane city quotes come from PSO's published fuel prices. Both are read directly from the source and republished unchanged, with the scrape timestamp shown at the top of the page so you can judge freshness for yourself.

Do all petrol pumps charge the official rate?

Oil marketing company stations sell at the official ceiling price for the notified products. If a pump is charging above the published rate, that is a matter for OGRA's complaint process rather than a genuine regional variation.

Does this site predict tomorrow's price?

Yes — the 'Tomorrow's Estimate' panel, shown beside today's rate. It is a calculation rather than a leak: OGRA's own published formula, rows A to T, recomputed with the period's average USD/PKR in place of the exchange-rate row, holding levies, margins and the Platts assessment constant because policy changes cannot be predicted from market data. It shows a range as well as a single figure, and prints its accuracy record together with the number of periods that record covers. It is labelled an estimate everywhere it appears and is never presented as a notified rate.

Can I use this price data in my own project?

Yes — the same figures come from a public JSON API with endpoints for current prices, revision history and per-city quotes, and it publishes interactive documentation you can try those endpoints from directly.
